Hi, I’m Brent! I own and operate Green Hollow Tree Care, a small, family run business in the hills of Craig County, VA. We pride ourselves on personal attention and doing work that’s good for people and good for trees. Thanks for stopping by. Below, you’ll learn a little about us. Please feel free to reach out with questions or to request a quote any time.
What makes your approach to tree care unique?
As a climber, I get up close and personal with trees
Where a bucket truck has a certain maximum height, climbing allows me to go farther into the tree. That means I get a more accurate picture of its needs. I’m there inside the canopy, moving with it. Every tree actually knows what it wants– you just have to “listen”. So, I pay attention to how the wind moves the branches, which ones dip and which ones don’t, which limbs the tree is trying to drop to even itself out. I spend timein trees (not just beside them in bucket truck) because I want to make sure we only make the cuts that are best for them. I’m trying to create balance, and balance means health, safety, and longevity. Last, it also means there’s almost no tree I can’t access. Trucks don’t fit everywhere– but a climber (usually) does. We’re gentler on your lawn too…
I believe in education
Often, property owners reach out about a tree whose location, shape, or size scares them. When I come out, my first move is to listen to you thoroughly, and then to assess the tree. If the tree really is dangerous, it’s my job to tell you that it needs to come down. If it’s not dangerous, it’s my job to tell you what it’s asking for– to be an interpreter. I like to say that, much like Dr Suess’s Lorax, I speak for the trees. My commitment is to do the best for both of you I can.
Safety is the #1 priority for me
Safety for the property and its owners and occupants
Safety for the tree itself
Safety for myself
I care…
I love helping people sleep at night (that’s where the part about education comes in); I enjoy solving problems creatively. I like being able to speak for things that can’t speak for themselves– like trees.
We’re a small, family owned and operated business
I see every project through from start to finish. That means the same person who does your consultation is the same person who does the work. That leads to fewer surprises, more personal care, and better continuity. I complete many of my projects solo, and when I do have help, my crew is two additional people or less. Most often, I work alongside my daughter, who’s a skilled climber in her own right.
I live & work here
My family and I live in Craig County, just outside of Giles and Montgomery Counties. I met my wife in Radford. When we do a great job for a tree and a neighbor, it gives us a sense of joy. In the midst of a big-box world, we’re still offering personal service the old way, one tree at a time.
One last thing that makes me a little different…I do cat rescues!
In fact, I’m the only cat rescuer in Southwest Virginia! If you’ve got a cat in a tree, I’m your guy.
